Pre-K for PA Campaign Launch

We are pleased to announce that the Economy League, along with our partners, officially launched the Pre-K for PA campaign today. The goal of Pre-K for PA is to ensure that all Pennsylvania children are ready to succeed. Our vision is that every 3- and 4-year-old in the Commonwealth has access to high-quality pre-kindergarten.

We know that there are too few high-quality early childhood education slots in Southeastern Pennsylvania and that cost is a significant barrier to many families. This campaign aims to address these issues and ultimately help us to achieve our World Class early learning goal -- that all of the region’s children are prepared to start school.

Leading up to the gubernatorial election this fall, the Economy League will be providing the campaign with timely research and analysis on economic and educational impacts, outlining policy options for expanded Pre-K, and leading outreach to the local business community.

Pre-K for PA invites citizens, parents, educators, as well as business and community leaders to help make high-quality Pre-K a visible issue during this critical election year and beyond. The campaign will be a regular source for Pre-K information and will conduct outreach in the local community, at public forums, and in the media to spread the word.

The campaign was launched by a statewide coalition including: Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children, Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Mission: Readiness, Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children, Pennsylvania Head Start Association, Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children, Pittsburgh Area Association for the Education of Young Children, Public Citizens for Children and Youth, and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
