What is the Leadership Exchange?
The Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange is an initiative of the Economy League to develop leaders of business, civic, and government organizations into visionaries dedicated to making Greater Philadelphia a world class region. Through in-region programming and out-of-region learning visits, the Leadership Exchange provides a unique opportunity for participants to build connections with top business, civic, and governmental leaders and to develop a deeper understanding of the Philadelphia region. Since the inception of the Leadership Exchange in 2005, the program has had a strong track record of exposing participants to new insights and ideas, forging connections across sectors and industries, and strengthening a community of leaders who are shaping the region’s future.
2017: New Models for Addressing New Challenges
The 2017 exchange focused on the dramatic transformations taking place in many of our core institutions and leading businesses. In Greater Philadelphia and across the U.S., bedrock institutions ranging from government to philanthropy to the media are being forced to change the way they operate. We heard from forward-looking local and national leaders in media, philanthropy, business, and government who are coming up with novel approaches to stay competitive amidst evolving pressures.
The exchange explored how businesses and educators are adapting their workplace and training models to reflect the changing nature of work; how nonprofits and local governments are creatively mobilizing resources in the face of constrained public and philanthropic dollars; efforts to broaden and diversify civic engagement in our region; new media models; and much more.
