Economic and Fiscal Impact of Medicaid Expansion in Pennsylvania

Medicaid expansion in Pennsylvania is estimated to have a significant positive impact on the state economy and a net positive impact on the state budget. Federal funds will provide between $3 and $5 billion per year to promote new economy activity, income, and tax revenues statewide.

 

In this report, the Economy League finds that expanding Medicaid to low-income Pennsylvanians as part of the Affordable Care Act would increase economic activity in the state and result in fiscal savings, despite state cost increases over time.
