Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer in Greater Philadelphia

While only 1-2 percent of invention disclosures are thought to be appropriate for start-up companies, the trend of redirecting university technology transfer resources to start-up companies licensing has broader implications for regional economic development. Greater Philadelphia is perceived by some to be lacking a climate conducive to entrepreneurship in the region.

 

The purpose of this analysis is to assess the degree to which university technology transfer contributes to entrepreneurship in Greater Philadelphia and the potential for this relationship to grow.
