Innovation at Heart of Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange

October 29, 2015

Danielle Cohn, Comcast Freedom Region

Last week, Comcast was proud to serve as a sponsor for the Economy League’s 10th Annual Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange (GPLEX).  As a co-chair for the meeting, I was thrilled that this year’s gathering brought together the largest contingent of technology leaders to date, highlighting our region’s burgeoning tech scene.

As a longtime participant in GPLEX and a member of the selection committee, I know firsthand the innovation it has inspired.  These meetings develop relationships among corporations, nonprofits and startups that amplify areas of opportunity and identify ways to innovate together for the greater good of Philadelphia.  Over the past 10 years, GPLEX events have built momentum for the transformation of Dilworth Plaza into a vibrant green and civic space, led to the launch of World Class Greater Philadelphia to attract businesses to our region, and inspired the creation of the Metropolitan Caucus, which successfully advocated for increased SEPTA funding.

I co-chaired this year’s event on behalf of Comcast with a group of Philadelphia leaders from diverse sectors that typifies GPLEX collaborations—Stephen Aichele of Saul Ewing, Stacy Holland of the Lenfest Foundation, and Hugh Lavery of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals.  Working with the Economy League’s tech cohort, we secured participation from nearly 20 technology firms, including My MilkCrateWash Cycle LaundryData Systems Analystsand Ben Franklin Technology Partners.

Innovation has shone as a central theme over the past decade of GPLEX discussions, and Comcast is proud to be a part of the tech conversation.  We congratulate GPLEX on 10 terrific years of dedication to making Greater Philadelphia a world-class region.
