Robert J. McNeill, Deloitte Philadelphia Managing Partner, is New Economy League Chair


(January 15, 2014 - Philadelphia, PA)  The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to announce new leadership of its Board of Directors for its 105th year. Robert J. McNeill, managing partner for Greater Philadelphia, Deloitte & Touche LLP, was elected to serve a two-year term as Chair at a meeting of the Board on December 10. The Economy League's 66-member Board is comprised of leading national and regional corporations and institutions working together to address the most pressing and challenging issues facing Greater Philadelphia.

Robert J McNeillAn Economy League Board member since 2006, McNeill served as Vice Chair as well as Chair of the nonprofit's Management Committee during 2012 and 2013. McNeill said the Economy League's work informing decision-makers, convening stakeholders, and facilitating collaborations provides an important service to the region's economy. "Few organizations take on the tough issues like the Economy League does. We are a civic catalyst, whether it's through research and analysis, building sound strategies, or getting organizations around the table in a productive, forward-thinking manner. This type of service and work is crucial to Greater Philadelphia's future," said McNeill.

In addition to his role with the Economy League, McNeill is active in the CEO Council for Growth and Drexel University's Center of Corporate Governance. A graduate of Villanova University, he is a founding member of the Accounting Advisory Council for its School of Business. He succeeds Rick Altman, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Radian Guaranty.

2013 Economy League accomplishments include:

  • The release of Global Positioning Strategies (GPSes) to improve regional education and talent development, business growth, and infrastructure outcomes as part of the ongoing World Class Greater Philadelphia initiative;
  • The release of reports analyzing the economic and fiscal impact of Medicaid expansion in Pennsylvania and SEPTA's statewide economic value that influenced decision-making in Harrisburg around health care policy and transportation funding;
  • Two hundred emerging and established leaders exploredthe theme of collaboration andinnovation aroundshared agendas at this fall's Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange - the largest and most diverse cohort in the program's history.
