Casey Discusses Economy and Job Creation With Philly Business Leaders at Thomas Jefferson University & Hospital

WASHINGTON, DC-- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, today joined Philadelphia area business leaders to discuss economic growth and job creation strategies with the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital.

 

“As our economy slowly improves, it is critical to listen to business in Philadelphia and across the state to find innovative ways to boost job creation and strengthen our economy," said Senetor Casey. "As Chairman of the JEC, I will continue to listen to a broad range of business leaders from across the state about what can be done to spur innovation, encourage startups and foster additional job growth."

 

“It is clear that regional economic engines like Greater Philadelphia will drive the recovery," said Steve Wray, Executive Director of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. "This meeting was a great opportunity for our leaders to have dialogue with Senetor Casey on what it will take to create sustainable economic growth."

 

As the new Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, Senator Casey is meeting with business leaders across Pennsylvania to discuss job creation strategies. At his meeting today, Senator Casey heard from business leaders who are at the forefront of economic growth and recovery in the Philadelphia region.

 

Senator Casey also toured the construction site of Jefferson's Health Professions Academic Building and the Jefferson Clinical Neuroscience Center with representatives from Jefferson Hospital and the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. Senator Casey saw firsthand the growth and job creation underway at Thomas Jefferson University & Hospital. Senator Csey has helped secure $1.3 million for Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson Hospital through the annual appropriations process since 2007.
