Issues

Our century-long history brings with it a nonpartisan credibility crucial in tackling the toughest challenges in these four areas:

  • Economy (188)

While the nature of our economy is regional, at the same time it operates in a global marketplace. Because governments are organized on the state and local levels, we believe there is a significant gap between how our region functions and how it is governed, a gap the Economy League aims to bridge.

  • Governance (72)

When the Economy League was established in 1909, its first endeavor was the promotion of better government through independent research. Today, we continue that tradition as well as bring together business, civic and nonprofit, and public interests for their ideas and experience to inform operations of all levels of government -- from boro managers to the Capital.

  • Infrastructure (62)

The health of our infrastructure directly impacts the health of our economy. From sea and air ports to rail and highways, Greater Philadelphia depends on sound, efficient means to commute to work and school, move goods, and grow. The Economy League examines infrastructure policy and systems through the lens of regional growth and sustainability.

  • Workforce (63)

The Economy League’s interests center on raising Greater Philadelphia's educational attainment and maximizing the potential of our human capital to help elevate this region's profile in the global economy.
