The Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange is an initiative of the Economy League to develop leaders of business, civic, and government organizations into visionaries dedicated to making Greater Philadelphia a world class region.
Through in-region programming and out-of-region learning visits, the Leadership Exchange exposes leaders to new insights and ideas, forges new connections across sectors and industries, and deepens participants’ understanding of Greater Philadelphia’s potential. Since the inception of the Leadership Exchange in 2005, participants have consistently given the experience top marks for exposure to new information and ideas, building connections, and strengthening a community of leaders who are shaping the region’s future.
Participation in the Leadership Exchange is a competitive process with a goal of representing the geographic, demographic, sector, and industry diversity in the region. To be eligible, applicants must live and/or work in the Greater Philadelphia region and serve in a leadership role in a business, nonprofit, or government organization.
2020 LEADERSHIP EXCHANGE
2020 GREATER PHILADELPHIA LEADERSHIP EXCHANGE
For 15 years, GPLEX has served the vital function of convening cross-sector leaders to learn, grow, and connect with one another with the aim of informing collaborative and inclusive growth in the Philadelphia region. The mission of GPLEX 2020 will be no different than those of the past but, due to the impact of COVID-19 on our region and its communities, the format of the 2020 convening will change. In response to the ongoing crisis, we have pivoted from the planned Detroit 2020 GPLEX event to focus, instead, on Philadelphia, and the region's recovery from the economic, social, and civic challenges ahead.
WHY WE GPLEX
PAST LEADERSHIP EXCHANGES
2016 LEADERSHIP EXCHANGE: LOS ANGELES
On September 25-28, the Economy League and a delegation of cross-sector Greater Philadelphia leaders traveled to the City of Angeles for a learning visit and leadership exchange.
“As a business owner, I find many invitations to network, learn, and study ‘best practices.’ But, let’s face it … time is money, which makes time ‘away’ feel like a luxury that had better deliver some measurable ROI. For me, the Leadership Exchange does that in multiples. It’s why I keep it at the top of my annual list of experiences to plan for and schedule around.”
